Nitrates
Common in groundwater in agricultural areas. They can exceed the limit for human consumption.
UFBAF® is MUFO's proprietary technology for biological nitrate removal. The comparison with ion exchange or reverse osmosis depends on the analysis, the flow rate and waste management.

Ion exchange and softening
- Data required:
- Major ions, sulphates, hardness, flow rate and possible brine disposal route.
- Operation:
- Regeneration with brine or other chemicals and management of regeneration effluent.
Reverse osmosis and nanofiltration

- Full ion analysis, silica, fouling indices, temperature, flow rate and concentrate disposal route.
- Operation:
- Pretreatment, antiscalants, chemical cleaning, remineralisation where needed and concentrate management.
